A bitcoin ATM has been installed in the Mexican Senate, Senator Indira Kempis, a leading proponent of the pioneering cryptocurrency in the North American country, said today.

The initiative was applauded on social networks by the cryptocurrency ecosystem, with some senators even pointing out that it is already possible to buy and sell bitcoin in the ATM installed in the Senate. Lawmakers agreed that it is a good time to modernize the economy of the future.
José Rodríguez, director of Talent Land, said the bitcoin ATM belongs to the firm ChainBytes and suggested the possibility of installing other devices in other Mexican cities.
"Monterrey and Guadalajara are where we have noticed the most interest," Rodriguez said. ChainBytes said it has worked in partnership with Mexico-based bitcoin ATM operator Axolotl to install a new device in the country's capital, specifically in the Senate of the Republic.
About 13 ATMs installed on Mexican territory
Eric Grill, CEO of ChainBytes said that by installing the ATM in the legislative building he hopes he has built a great way for those in charge to work on Mexican laws to familiarize themselves with bitcoin technology. "We hope this helps bitcoin to be accepted as legal tender in Mexico," he added.
