Monaco (Visa cryptocurrency card) buys Crypto.com domain

Monaco (Visa cryptocurrency card) buys Crypto.com domain. The domain was rated 10 million USD, but the price of the deal is unknown.

Monk, the startup behind the Visa cryptocurrency debit card project bought the domain Crypto.com, originally registered in the 1993 from Matt Blaze, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania in computer science and information sciences.

With the cryptomania that has gained a strong momentum in recent years, Blaze would have rejected numerous offers for the domain, only to then surrender to the advances of Monaco. In January, he had said al Verge is Crypto.com it was simply "not for sale", despite the fact that the experts had estimated a value of around $ 10 million.

Now, however, Blaze has evidently changed its mind, and has sold its domain to Monaco for an unknown price. It is very likely at this point that Monaco can opt for a rebranding like Crypto.com, "Reflecting its mission to accelerate global development, adoption and the transition to cryptocurrency," the company itself said in a statement.

The company's products, including the Visa e card an app wallet, will therefore be renamed as MCO to align with its token. The card is currently being tested, with an Asian and European launch scheduled for the end of the summer.

Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, says that "Crypto.com offers us a new and powerful identity in line with our original vision to put cryptocurrency in every wallet. Since the name we are assuming is also representative of the whole system, we have an enormous responsibility in bringing the "torch". We will strive to provide an impact worthy of the name and build an infrastructure that enables ecosystem growth, guaranteeing the promise of a decentralized future ".
