Browse decentralized sites on Chrome with this extension - Best Web Hosts that Accept Bitcoin Other CryptocurrenciesUnstoppable Domains, a San Francisco-based company that is building blockchain domain names, has launched an extension to the Google Chrome web browser, stating that it wants to offer its users censorship-resistant websites based on the Ethereum network.

Google Chrome is currently the most used web browser in the world, with hundreds of millions of people using it every day, since it has absorbed almost 70% of the market share. Now all these people have the option to add the 'Unstoppable' Domain Extension and this will allow them to access the .crypto domains developed by this censorship-resistant web developer directly through the Chrome browser. This happens after Unstoppable Domains launched their browser last month.

How does the new extension work?

By simply typing a .crypto domain into Chrome, users can browse decentralized websites, just like they would any .com site, explains the press release. The browser thus takes a further step forward, providing a short list of cases of early use for decentralization, which includes: decentralized cryptographic exchanges (DEX), cryptographic media and personalities, such as cryptographic addresses and personal pages, or platforms for automatic trading like Bitcoin Pro.

To briefly explain, .crypto domains are developed by the company as smart contracts on the Ethereum network. By the way, Unstoppable Domains has received grants from the Ethereum Foundation and the Zilliqa Foundation.

Therefore, these domains are very different from what most internet users are used to. As the announcement says, blockchain domains do not have a custodian, are resistant to censorship and nobody can interfere with them, move them or turn them off (at least not before closing the entire network); a domain is paid only once and is archived only by its owner, so practically all normal domains are not.

Could Google remove this extension?

This means, however, that Google could choose to remove the extension, as it previously did with other crypto / blockchain-related companies, which demonstrates its centralization, but also demonstrates that the decentralized web cannot be removed by giants.

However, bringing decentralization and all its benefits to people, rather than just working to bring people to decentralization, seems to be what the company is trying to do. "The decentralized web should work exactly like the normal web, with the applications you're used to using," says Brad Kam, co-founder of Unstoppable Domains. "Downloading our extension offers full access to the decentralized web from Chrome."

In the meantime, the launch of Blockchain Handshake, a decentralized and unauthorized naming protocol created by Namebase, an exchange, a cloud wallet and a registrar for the names of Handshake and the native HNS currency recently occurred.

These allow users to purchase a simple domain name, which they can then use for anything they wish, such as their website address and a crypto wallet.
